A flood resulting from heavy rainstorms trapped hundreds in China’s southwest Guilin City Tuesday (April 30), state media reported.

YA’AN, China (Reuters) – China’s worst earthquake in three years on Saturday killed at least 157 people and injured more than 5,700, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said.

The bodies of all 18 school children buried under a landslide in China have been recovered, as authorities defended returning them to class following recent deadly earthquakes.

 BEIJING — A series of earthquakes collapsed houses and triggered landslides Friday in a remote mountainous part of southwestern China where damage was preventing rescues and communications were disrupted. At least 64 deaths have been reported.

The heaviest rainfall to hit China’s capital Beijing in 60 years has left 37 people dead and stranded thousands at the main airport. The deluge struck on Saturday afternoon and continued into the night, flooding major roads, state media said. Roof collapses, lightning strikes and electrocution from downed power lines were among the causes of the deaths.
